Averie Cole : towards the moon wedding photography PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHER
Hi I'm Averie and i'm the principle photographer, videographer and owner of Towards The Moon Creative. I lead a team of lady legends and together we love to focus on the candid, authentic moments that are unique to you and your special day. It’s your story, and we’re honored to tell it back to you as beautifully as we can.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, I moved to Jersey City in 2015 to be with my husband (photographer Mel D Cole) who I met whilst on vacation in NYC. I have an incredible love story and i'm so blessed to have had my friend and fellow photographer Phu Tang from Folk and Follow there to document our special day. My wedding photos mean the world to me... Not only because they are beautiful and creative but because they really encapsulate the day and all the emotions. Everything happens so fast and without my photos the day would just be a blur.
So that being said I REALLY understand the value of having your day documented with authenticity by someone who really cares about your story. My approach is to document the moments as they unfold. I focus on connecting with you and your story, on capturing candid moments and I believe wedding photography should evoke more celebration and less production. That's where the magic is!
It's been 10 years since I decided to embark on a career in photography. After I graduated with a BFA in Photomedia from COFA USNW I got my first full time wedding job working as a second shooter for Sydney based wedding collective Studio Something. It wasn't long before I was traveling around the world with them lead shooting whilst growing my own clientele as well. With over 500 weddings now under my belt, I have shot weddings and events in the USA, Asia, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia. I love to travel and offer discounted rates for destination weddings. My work has been featured in The Daily Mail, Nouba, Hello May , Polka Dot Bride and Rock N Roll Bride .
When i'm not shooting weddings I'm working on personal projects. Most are ongoing works in progress that I never seem to finish but keep my passion for photography burning none the less. My photography career started in the music industry, traveling around Australia working on a project documenting the Australian Hip Hop Culture. I love shooting live music and during my free time in summer you'll find me shooting at one of our amazing local festivals - My favorite being the Roots Picnic in Philly. Between shooting music and weddings i'm currently working on a motherhood portrait series that I hope to exhibit at a local Jersey City gallery next summer.
