Founder, Lead Photographer, Editor
I’m a Mama, a sister, a daughter and a fierce believer in women and the amazing things we can achieve when we work together. I’m also a wife and have been a bride myself so I know what its like to be in front of the camera too. I know how important your wedding photos are to you because I too have wedding photos that I treasure beyond measure. You can see my wedding feature here and a portrait session my husband and I did here
My path to wedding photography wasn’t exactly an easy one. I spent many years trying to figure out what I wanted to do. When I was fresh out of high school I wanted to be a social worker. I enrolled at Sydney University and started taking classes in family and relationship studies, psychology and language. I wanted to be able to give something back, to help people, to guide, direct and to listen. After 6 months of early morning commutes (think 5am wake up calls and not getting home till 8pm) I soon realized this path wasn’t for me. After much deliberation and soul searching I switched to a bachelor of fine arts majoring in photo media. My goal was to be my own boss, to travel, make art and to feel constantly inspired. Wedding photography was all this and then some. During my studies a close friend of mine asked me to shoot her wedding and offered to pay me too. I don’t think I had been paid for taking photos before this. I was just making art, taking photos at music gigs and events I went to and posting on my blog regularly. I’ll never forget my first wedding and how amazing it felt to capture those moments for my friend. I didn’t even have a great camera then but I made it work and shot some of it on film too. After that day I was hooked. I used those photos to create a mini portfolio and sent them off to a bunch of local wedding photographers, hoping they would hire me as a second shooter. Before I knew it I was lead shooting for this amazing studio in Sydney, traveling the world and meeting new and inspiring people daily. The work I was doing was meaningful, it was constantly evolving and it was everything I always wanted my work to be.
In 2008 I began shooting weddings full time and I haven’t looked back since! In 2015 I travelled to NYC for a girls trip of a lifetime and ended up meeting my now husband Mel D Cole. After 3 months we married in Hawaii on Makapuu Beach and now live in Jersey City Heights with our 10 month old baby boy Auggie, our Vizsla Bruce and our two kitties Sidney and Petey. I choose every day to chase my dreams and live life to the fullest. Living life to the fullest means being the best version of myself I can be, the best photographer I can be, throwing dinner parties, being part of my crossfit community, date nights with my husband, couch cuddles with Auggie, red wine on a rooftop, weekend brunch dates, poolside vacays in Miami and Netflix binges on the couch. I also have a weak spot for shopping, plants and interior design. My Instagram feed is basically apartment therapy x plants x Australian designers. In 2018 I got to meet one of my idols Whoopi Goldberg and I’m so happy I have a photo to prove it!
